Mini Campaign:

The Rise of Mundaria

About The Campaign

The year is 104 A.H., two years after the fall of the Luxmond Empire. The world is still reeling from the bloody civil war that split Luxmond into the two kingdoms of Luxagio and Mundaria. This war was the first in Human history; never had humanity seen this level of bloodshed.

After the war, Luxagio retained the old seat of power in Luxmond. The booming metropolis of Teva survived the 13-day siege ending the war, emerging with its true symbol of power fully intact, the floating palace dubbed The Cloud Seats. Many of the Luxagio’s most keen scholars also survived, quickly aiding in the continued development of some of the world’s most powerful sailing ships. Though less powerful than those designed by The College of Leafton in Zarwyn, these vessels were mass-produced and equally capable of crossing the infinite ocean to the north, making for quick access to Chanthúman’s southern edge. The work of these scholars propelled the world into a new era of globalization.

Despite having won the war, Mundaria found themselves in a predicament. With supplies dwindling, government lacking, and Luxagio’s spies abound, the young kingdom had to act decisively to truly get themselves on the map.

Mundaria swiftly erected their own new capital city, Rinist, mimicking that of the city of Teva. Rinist is a symbol of the innovation and freedom enjoyed by the kingdom’s new age. All the city needs are to finish the construction of its harbor and to levitate its palace. However, Rinist lacks the knowledge required to lift its palace into the clouds, and the tides have proved far more violent on this side of the inland sea.

In an attempt to raise the status of its kingdom, Mundarian ambassadors called a meeting between the two feuding states. Mundaria sought a trade agreement, aiming for information on how to construct their palace’s levitation device. In return, they’d allow unrequited access to the Eastern Walk, the only road into Eastern Chanthúman, which passes straight through the heart of Mundaria.

This meeting marked the first attempt at civility since the war’s end. The ambassadors of Luxagio dismissed Mundaria’s offer, emphasizing the lasting might of their own kingdom, and boasting the power of Luxagio’s sailing ships which render the land route moot. The meeting ended in less time than it took the attendees to take their seats.

Our players have now been tasked by Umbra Brey, the Admiral of the Mundarian Navy, to prove Mundaria’s worthiness to the rest of Chanthúman, and secure Rinist as the new hub of trade by both land and sea. To do so, they must deliver either the schematics or the actual device used to levitate Teva’s palace and find a way to calm the tides along Rinist’s shores so they may open their seaport.

Umbra has secured the party passage into the city of Teva, emphasizing the need for discretion. The campaign opens as our heros embark on a mission that could spell disaster for a newly freed kingdom, or usher in a new era of unity and prosperity for all.
